The trustee for the monumental failure of a virtual currency exchange, Mt Gox, has announced that it may not be the end of the road if your claim was rejected.

In an announcement this morning trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi said that those who filed a claim and were rejected have until June 27th, 2016 to appeal the decision.

Creditors who disagree to the result of acceptance or rejection of their own claims determined by the bankruptcy trustee may file for a claim appraisal procedure with Tokyo District Court within one month ...

This is standard procedure in accordance with the Japanese Bank Act. Under Japanese law the creditor may challenge the determination by the bankruptcy trustee.

The notice goes on to state in big letters that this is the last hope:

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE CREDITORS WHOSE FILED CLAIMS WERE REJECTED DID NOT FILE A CLAIM APPRAISAL PROCEDURE OF THEIR BANKRUPTCY CLAIMS WITH THE COURT BY JUNE 27, 2016 (JAPAN STANDARD TIME), THEIR CLAIMS WILL BECOME FINALIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RESULT OF ACCEPTANCE AND REJECTION BY THE BANKRUPTCY TRUSTEE. AND SUCH CREDITORS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECEIVE ANY DISTRIBUTION IN THE BANKRUPTCY PROCEEDINGS WITH REGARD TO ANY CLAIM WHICH HAS BEEN REJECTED BY THE BANKRUPTCY TRUSTEE.

After 2 years of nothing but lawyers getting any money, we're down to about 2 weeks left to get a last minute appeal filed to get anything back from the defunct exchange.

You can visit the website for more information and read the full announcement.
