In Silk Road fashion, Australian law enforcement officials confiscated 24,500 bitcoins (worth over 9 million USD at press time) following the conviction of Richard Pollard.

Pollard was given an 11-year prison sentence today after pleading guilty to commercial drug trafficking and as a result Pollard’s bitcoins are subject to a restraining order and a 28-day appeal period else the funds will be forfeited to law enforcement officials.

If that happens, the coins will be sold at auction much like the recent US Marshal Silk Road snagged coins were.

Gotta love it.
