There's a group of idiots trying to extort money (in the form of 40 Bitcoins) from various companies by threatening to DDoS attack the website if they do not pay. DDoS stands for denial of service and it is a plausible way to bring down a website completely or grind it to its knees.
Fortunately, you can tell them to buzz off if they threaten you. We have have a better solution, and one you should already have in place anyway.
The threat comes in the form of this here document:
Sampe Email from DD4BC. Source: Akamai |
Protect The Base
So before you read another word, go visit the folks at Clouflare and get your website protected now, it doesn't cost anything to give them a try and they will prevent this from happening. There are also several other solutions available, and you can buy the same software these clowns are using to stress test your website as well.
Point is, don't give them anything. Not one bit (pun intended).
