The Australian police will be auctioning 24,518 bitcoins taken from a drug dealer in 2013. With bitcoin currently at $543.53 on the dinbits index, this equates to $13,326,268.54 USD.
Silk Road seems to be the sunken ship that keeps on giving. Previously the United State Marshal Service auctioned 144,000 bitcoins snagged during that fiasco. This time around it may be related. The forfeited the 24,518 bitcoins may have once belonged to a Silk Road drug dealer. This has not been confirmed entirely, however registered bidders at the auction will find out.
Registrations will begin on from June 7 and the auction will take place on June 20 through June 22 conducted by Ernst & Young.
